Threaded carpet spikes are provided, they are designed as bolts that screw into the bottom plate that sits on the floor. After one screws in the bolt then the opposite end is a "spike" that is designed to either (a)penetrate into a thick carpet in order to prevent sliding or (b) have the spike end rest upon a round plastic button AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSES INSTABILITY. The spike does not fit onto the buttons and the entire stand slides off the buttons. Will not recommend this product for the reason of the spike/button inferior tooling.

On the plus side, these are reasonably attractive, heavy quality stands which facilitate a stable environment for quality loudspeakers like my B & W 900's. On the other hand, the stand's tiny holes are too small to feed the speaker wires with ease, not to mention the insertion of sand or metal. Overall, they are a good value for the price.

For best stability, and if NOT running cables thru front post, fill ALL three posts - much better stability. I drilled mounting holes in top plate, bolted my JBL LSR 6328 speakers directly to these stands, with pads - works/looks great!
