For best stability, and if NOT running cables thru front post, fill ALL three posts - much better stability. I drilled mounting holes in top plate, bolted my JBL LSR 6328 speakers directly to these stands, with pads - works/looks great!

I am using these for a pair of large bookshelf speakers (8" woofer) that serve as the front channels for my 5.1 surround system. I am completely thrilled with these stands: they were very easy to set up and adjust (I have a VERY uneven floor in my funky Seattle apartment), are very sturdy (they have a larger-than-average base plate for the speaker to sit on and the 3 pole design means no wobbling speakers) and are visually appealing. I have noticed a marked improvement in the sound quality from the speakers, both from having them elevated to "ear level" and from isolating the output by having them up off the floor. Only reccomendation is that buyers should consider using a "quake putty" type product in place of the included sticky pads for attaching the speakers to the stand - allows speakers to be more easily removed for moving or cleaning and provides a stronger bond without any glue-residue. Absolutely no downside to these stands!!!!

I just set mine up today. On their own they are pretty sturdy stands, but since I put larger speakers on them (JAMO c 803's) I decided to fill the 2 back poles on each of the stands with lead shot. A total of 50 lbs of lead shot (costing about $90) took care of the job, with a bit left over. The lead shot - IMO - it absolutely worth it...increasing the stability of the stands. I set each of the speakers with a bit of puddy, and they are good to go!\n\nIt is amazing how raising my speakers just a few inches makes such a difference. These stands are worth every penny.\n\n2 other things I like about these stands:\n1) They have the largest top plate of any stand I can find (with the exception of stands for center channels).\n2) The "VTI" badge comes off quite easily, improving their look IMO.\n\nSo overall - great quality stands...and buying them through racksandstands.com was great as well.\n\n----\n\nSo it might sound like I am an employee of VTI or racksandstands...truth is - I am neither. I just appreciate when people write honest reviews that help me in my decision...and I have no qualms about giving props to a company when they do a good job.\n\nTake my $.02 for what it's worth.
